I'm pretty carefull about switching out of OD when I've had to downshift. However, there have been two ocassions while downshifting and negotiating an interchange or exit ramp that I forgot to flip of the OD before downshifting. Arriving at the stoplight, I notice to my horror that the OD light is lit and quickly flip it off. But am I too late?
How does the OD operate when you downshift? Does it disengage automatically when 4th gear left, or did I seriously risk the OD when I forgot to "column-shift" down to 4th?
I'm about to loan this car out for a few weeks and I want to properly instruct the new driver on proper shifting form.
Any advice/info is appredicated
