Well, having not bought a Volvo for almost a year now, I found #22 today. It's a '89 760 turbo. It was bought, running poorly, an an auction by a speculative mechanic who took the exhaust manifold and turbo off and gave up. Only 113K miles and no play in the turbo shaft so I gave him $350 for it. Body is straight, it's sporting a Mann filter and it has brand new Michelins too.
I've got a '91 740T and a '87 760T and there are some weird things about this car that I've never seen before. The key is this short little stubby thing that I've never seen on a Volvo. Very odd. The wipers hide under the cowl of the hood, the hood can be put up almost vertically and has struts on the sides. Headlights are actually glass, with the inside foglights being the crappy old plastic I'm used to. Motor looks like a regular old B230FT.
So to the questions: I seem to remember something about the wheels getting a pretty different offset sometime in the later RWD years, either with the 760s or the 900s. Have I got normal old 15" wheels on this thing that I can switch to my 240s and 740s?
Any chance of having a lockup converter or LSD on this thing? Would the VIN tell me? I assume it will have ABS? or was that optional on the 760s? My '87 has it, the '91 does not.
This is LH 2.4 right? the distributor is on the back of the block.
Anything else different from the I should know about this car?
Trailer coming tomorrow evening, I suppose I'll wipe the dust off and take a picture for Y'all.
Thanks
