window channel and vent window rubber replacement tips? 120-130 1966

Hello, after a couple months of delays I'm finally ready to take my doors apart and install the new window channels and new wing window rubber, starting w/the front doors first.

I have collected all the supplies, have the vintage manual instructions (and whatever the Haynes has in it), some basic instructions given awhile ago for the wing window rubber, and a pop rivet gun borrowed from a friend. What I'm trolling for here are any miscellaneous tips or things to avoid doing from anyone who's familiar w/either of these jobs or done them recently (i.e. I noticed on a not-too-distant post someone mentioned that putting adhesive behind the channels helped them to not slide up and down).

Maybe I'm armed w/enough info, but never having removed the windows before and hearing that the vent window rubber job is a bear, I'd appreciate anything that would help make it less of a challenge and help get my car up and about faster.

thanks,

Holly
