Yesterday when driving home from school, I noticed a white '85 240 sedan sitting on the side of the interstate near Charleston, WV. It turns out that I had seen the car before, as it belonged to a guy in Charleston that I knew of. About five minutes after that he called me and told me what had happened. He was driving along and the car died immediately. He also told me that he had never changed the oil since he got it ( over 30 K miles on the old oil!) He then offered me the car and I accepted. It's getting towed home this morning. I did try to start it, but the starter gives a loud thump when turned. I didn't get much time to look at the engine, but I'm pretty sure it's seized. There wasn't much oil showing up on the dipstick. The oil level probably just got too low.
Anyway I think I've found a good used engine for next to nothing here locally. The car is a bit rough, but not that rusty.
Cheers,
Dave
