windshield leak 120-130

I know this has been covered in the forums before, but my search isn't finding the threads....
I have the classic wet passenger footwell syndrome- luckily floorboards are sound and have been painted with POR. A paintjob and new windshield are somewhere in the future, but for now I need a fix. A bead of silicon rtv or some-such material at the corners of the windsheild? What have others done (and what was the success rate)?
