HELP, HELP, HELP,
I am losing my mind!!! And if this goes on - kiss the Bluecar 244 1980 goodby!
Call me hysterical - and you will be right!
The story goes like this:
I discovered a leak in the front break caliper. I deduced that it comes from those little rubber washers that seal the break fluid tunnels. So, merrily, opened the caliper and went searching for those washers. Did not find any in all the rubber (not contraceptive) stores in Tel Aviv - none to be found.
I did manage to find rubber washers the same diameter but not flat and not break oil resistant. I installed the washers, bled all the lines. It seemed to work fine.
Now, in Israel, for an old car, you need to test the car with the motor safety board every 6 months, plus you need a certificate from a garage that the car is in order.
I have this trusted mechanic who does this for me, but this time he informed me that there is still a small leak from the caliper - and that he cannot find the washers.
So, today was spent looking again for these washers. I went to all the break shops - no washers. In my despare, I went to the volvo dealership, which informed me that they have a set which costs 91.5 dollars!!!
91.5 dollars for 2 washers which should cost 50 cents!!!
I am not going to pay this as a matter of principle. The whole car cost me $200.
Now if you fine gentlemen want me off your club - this will do it!
Any help would be appropriate and very welcome.
Gadi
PS. God help the volvo dealership.
