I would like to receive any suggestions why my B28F (1980 262C) is not running well enough to drive. The symptoms are likely as a result of 2 years storage, with only movement in the spring and fall, in order to move it from the driveway (see avatar) to it's winter storage home, a few hundred feet away.
Last spring and yesterday, the engine started easily, going into fast idle, then slowing to idle speed within a few minutes. When I press on the gas pedal, the engine sputters, does not rev and almost appears to want to cut out. Moving the car is a long ordeal.
I first observed these symptoms last spring. I did replace the control pressue regulator, electronic ignition control and the auxilliary fuel valve, but there was no change. I did add fuel injection cleaner and new gas last spring, also with no change. I have not removed or changed the spark plugs, nor changed any settings since the motor last ran normally. The timing chains were replaced 20,000 km ago, along with head gaskets and its heads/valves were refurbished. The fuel distributor and frequency valves (injectors) were also replaced, but that was 16 years ago, with only the same 20,000 kms limited use.
I know the problem seems like fuel starvation, but where should I start? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
