I need to replace or rebuild my daughters '89 740 engine 700 1989

One too many overheats have, I believe, caused the destruction of an otherwise perfectly good engine (albeit with 192,000 mi on it!)

In any case I'm willing to consider a rebuild and willing to consider just dropping in a used engine from the junkyard.

so which engines should I look for in the yard? I know (from my previous post concerning this -thanks guys!) that the '89 model year started LH 2.4 Fuel Injection.

so how many years after that used LH 2.4? what models?.. i.e. did 900 series engines use that system and have rear mounted distributors?

I'm pretty sure the pistons have suffered from the overheats so I'm not sure it would be easier to rebuild the engine than to drop in a "same type" from the junkyard....

But y'alls opinions would all be appreciated,

jack
