A Bit Wobbly... 120-130 1967

Hello All:

1967 Volvo 122S Wagon. When a "partner" lightly turns the steering wheel back and forth the passenger side joint between the steering idler arm and the steering arm is wobbling a bit. Needless to say - cause for concern. The split-pin is still in place and the castle nut looks like it has not moved in nearly a half-century which in fact - it probably has not. The driver's side looks fine but I will replace both sides anyway.

In the catalogue the item seems to be referred to as a "rubber casing" which might work in concert with a "lock ring" and "tensioner ring." Any advice on what I need to effect this repair? I want to order ASAP. The plan was to completely rebuild the front suspension this spring but I might have to get the ball rolling a bit early. Any suggestions on who would be the best supplier for the various bushings, ball joints, etc. would be much appreciated. I have already read a bit on the rubber vs. synthetic debate and have chosen to go with rubber components. I also cannot wait to be able to say I am the proud owner of a "pickle fork."

Cheers,

Jeff Pucillo
