driveline flanges and spicer question 120-130

Okay, here's where im at, I have a 1963 122 with the early style driveline (in the book listed as type I) it has no flanges at the tranny or at the diferential merely yokes for the first and last u-joints, im sure someone knows what im talking about.
The tranny is starting to howl in third and the differential needs a new pinion seal, so im going to have to get under there at some point which brings me to my question(s). I have a tranny that is assumed to be good, but it has a type 2 flange on the output shaft, so i need to know if this will line with the spline count on the later type 2 flange, what is a good trick for pressing this flange off and the other yoke on, there are all types of tools listed for this job that i have no way of fabricating or getting really, that i know of, so what's the backalley way of doing this job?
As for the pinion seal, after i get the yoke off theres a tool listed to get the old seal out and one to press it in, while the getting the new seal in looks like i could just use a correct diameter pipe, will i run into trouble getting out the old sealwith a skrewdriver or somesuch thing? i'm sure someone has done this a hundred times so i just want to know what im getting into before i tear into my daily driver and ground myself with something unforseen so any and all advice would be appreciated and warranted, because im learning as i go and this is my first (hopefully last)drivetrain problem. thanx all.

your poor (but willing) volvo driver,
rob
