Okay, this 92 245 with a 1031 style rear end (with abs) has a failing pinion bearing that is growling. If I pull the axles, remove the back cover and unbolt the carrier mounts (each side of the inner diff assembly), will the ring gear along with the planetary assembly come out with a bit of a tug, or are special tools needed? The ultimate goal is to pull the pinion gear and replace the pinion bearing, crush sleeve, and seal.
Any advice is welcomed, I'm tired of swapping out rear axle assemblies twice a year. NOTE: I know the growl is not coming from the axle bearings, U-joints, or center support bearing... all of that is new.
Thanks in advance!
