I have a bit of a problem, and I was wondering what recourse you fine folk could offer. I in the last few months purchased a locking gas cap for my 65 122, and it arrived in the mail while I had my car in the shop for brake issues. I got the cap, looks good, has the volvo logo, all that. I drop positive feedback, which he reciprocates with postive as well. No problems so far. I get my car out of the shop, and the cap dosent fit. I email him about this issue, and after a little time, he tells me no problem, email it back with the cap, and he'll credit my paypal. I do as such, emailing the cap and key in a tamper proof mailer, and get no response. I email back after some time, and he says that he didnt get the key.
I emailed him again disputing this, and get a one line, all caps reply of "Didnt get it". Well, by this time and from his emails, Ive gleaned that his name is Mark Grenier and he lives in Somerset NH. So.. I 411 the name, and get a number, which turns out not to be him, but his mother, who says hes usually pretty on the ball, except for when he gets busy. So, other than by listing his ebay identity, which is volvodoctor, do any of you other listeners have any advice for those who have been burned buying parts online? Do I have any legal recourse? I have all listings of our correspondace, and what not, does pay pal have any recourse for these matters?
