Adding a relay, where to hook up the hot wire 700 1989

Hi all

I'm planning to add a relay for my auxiliary fan and my headlamps. I've got all the stuff I need and have done some homework. Got a question to ask before I proceed.

From where should I tap the 12V to go the relay? From what I've been reading, some say the battery positive post, some suggest the alternator. And I've come across folks connecting it to a block junction but that was for a 200 series. Not too sure if a 740 have a block junction.

So which is the best place to hook the hot wire on a 700 series? Any preference?

Thanks in advance.
