Steering Arm Removal. 120-130

Hi Guys.

I have discovered that the lower seal on my ZF steering box is leaking...it wasn't leaking before I cleaned it all up and removed the accumulated gunk, now it is seeping. Silly me, I should have left it alone, but I'm busy cleaning everything up for a repaint of the engine compartment. Now I have to get this fixed before I spray paint as I don't want to be hammering on stuff when the paint is new and fresh and I sure don't want any leaks.

So I've got the bloody big nut off the bottom...no problem there - no rust could form in the presence of that much oil! What's the trick to getting that arm off. I've tried a 2 lb deadblow hammer with little effect. I've got the suspension pretty much off, with the upper arms off, the sway removed, the hubs and spindles off etc, so it should be free to move except for the tapered splined shaft!

Craig
