Hello guys. It never ends it seems. My '79 242 (my daughter drives it) seems to run fine once it gets up to speed. Actually a fair amount of power for its age on the top end. BUT, when starting off from a dead stop (in an intersection with horns blaring)or up a hill, the car really strains. No bucking. It does not hesitate, just no power. Once the MO (momentum)gets going it does okay, but it takes awhile. I feel like I am missing something simple. I replaced the front seals and rear tranny seals. The in-tank pump is good. The plugs are good. It idles real rough and almost cuts off when first started from cold. But a little revving clears that up pretty good. Is it possible a worn out or plugged catalytic converter would cause this? In my county, where the car would be inspected, there are no emission tests and I think I would just take it off and straight pipe it to the first muffler. Why power on top end and not on the low end? It may be something totally different. I am open to ideas. jg
