How do I remove the alt. brushes? 700 1986

This is a continuation of my previous post.

I heated the back side of the outside brush.
Some solder came off but not enough to release the brush.
Does the copper wire hold the brush to the assembly?
What is the proceedure to remove it / them?
Do they need to be removed from the assembly prior to unsoldering?
