Speedometer acts strangely 700 1992

Hey all,



I have a '92 740 Sedan B230/Regina, and the speedometer bounces up and down with the car idling in park. Sometime it goes up to about 50 mph and stays there, even though the car is in park and stationary. It usually goes back to zero. I knew from the time I got the car that the speedo sometimes would not work at all, then spring back into action. Any suggestions to point me in the right direction: i.e. bad connection, speed sensor, bad capacitor in the speedometer, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
