Hi All, I am new to this site, but have had my 89 245gl wagon now for sometime. It ran fine up until about a month ago. Then all of sudden one day, wouldn't start. I have replaced the fuel pump relay with a new one a while back. And determined it is getting spark. Also when you spray starter fluid will fire right up. Here is what I precieve to be the problem. I checked the plug that the intank fuel pump plugs into, and there is voltage there. So I put male spades on the ground and hot of the wire that leads to pump, and nothing. However if you put hot to the hot terminal on the pump and neg to neg. The pump whirls just fine. So I assume there is a shortage in the wire from sending unit. I replace it with a sending unit from junk yard, plug it in, and same thing. However if you apply juice to wire under metal disc, which is hot, and ground anywhere metal on sending unit, pump runs. I am at my whits end, and at present not a lot of cash to take to a garage. I have checked both fuses and both seem to be ok, also, like I said getting juice at plug that sending unit connects to. This all just happened one day. Started and ran fine the day before then the next day nothing.
Please help, and thanks in advance for any and all suggestions. I miss my old wagon, as she hasn't been driveable now for about a month.
Thanks again
Bruce
