my temp gauge 120-130 1967

So last summer, my neighbor did a lil valve check. since then, the temp gauge hasnt been working. did something get disconnected under the valve cover? how could i reconnect it and would i be okay if i just bought a new temp sender or would something still be disconnected under there?
