So, I'm new to 240 ownership, and my new '91 had an odometer that was working on and off. I thought it must be the broken teeth issue and ordered the gear. This week I pulled the intsuments and opened the speedo to find the original gear was intact. I replaced it anyways and went for a drive, unfortunately it did not resolve my issue. So I took the new gear out and put the original back in.
I then ended up finding a used instrument cluster from a pre-91 car. I removed the speedo from that cluster and put it in mine. I then took it for a drive and the speedo works great. I'm keeping it.
But one issue has come up. The service light comes on when I start the car, and disappears after about 30 seconds. Pressing the service reset button, and/or trying from the back as well, with and without the key on, does not reset the service light immediately.
Should I be concerned that the light takes some time to go out? Any ideas what would be causing this?
Let me know. Thanks!!
Brad
