OK, so I normally get garbage gas mileage. Around 18-19 mixed city/highway (but mostly highway lately - only trips of about 8 miles though).
I went on a trip and got 19-20 mpg the whole way there. This was several hundred miles.
I've used techron injector cleaner before, but I tried the 3M for kicks.
I got markedly (22-24) better mpg after adding it - with more weight (2 people and their luggage) and a heavier foot.
HUH?
I noticed that as I was driving home (after about two tanks of gas) my mileage was back to crapola 19-20 highway. Seems like the mileage trailed off with the concentration of injector cleaner in the system.
Does anyone know if injector cleaner is just some substance that makes fuel atomize better? Is it snake oil? Does it actually ever do jack for cleaning anything?
Thanks,
Will
