So I'm trying to get my 90 240 road worthy again. When I started the car I heard a funny knocking sound.I thought oh know piston slap or worse. The car has not beeen used all winter.Further investigation reveals a broken tension bolt for the ac compressor. With the engine shaking abit while it settled down caused the ac compressor to move enough to hit something[forgot what]down in the engine compartment.I am so relieved it wasn't an internal engine problem. So,is this bolt and nut set up a dealer only part?Any creative ways to make a new one?The ac unit has 2 of these set-ups.One vertical and one horizontal. It is the horizontal one that broke.
Also the last time I drove the car I noticed a slight problem with up-shifting.Guess what, the cable near the throtle body has a small split in it causing it to bind in the sheathing. How difficult is this to change?I have plenty of tools, jacks and jack stands,no lift.I would think the tricky part is going into the tranny.Any tips? Thanks
