I noticed the needle was sitting below zero when parked. I took out the cluster and pulled the speedo out. When I rotated the needle, it stopped max at 110mph (not 120). I carefully pulled the needle off, re-positioned it to zero and voila!!!
I am going to road test it soon with the wife on the cell phone pacing me in her car. I will see if this is the fix I have needed for a long time. I guess over the years it might have wiggled down there sub zero or I might have accidentally bumped it when fixing the temperature gauge. In another thread someone suggested I try this but I forgot about it till tonight. Dumb me...
I hope it was something this simple. I will report back with my results.
