1987 240 w/180,000 on it. I've been driving it for about 3 weeks with no problems ( it probably sat for a while before that ). I had the battery disconnected while installing a radio this weekend. This morning, it started and ran fine, but made much less power than normal - struggling up hills in 4th that it normally walks up in 5th. After about 20 minutes of that, it suddenly started running correctly again.
Came out of work, and it was back to low power again, and didn't improve during the 1 hr drive home.
Because of the sudden improvement on the way in, I though maybe a cylinder had lost spark or fuel, but all 4 plugs look fine ( clean and tan ), and the exhaust manifold heats up evenly at all 4 cylinders at idle, so it seems to be running on all 4. It runs evenly and pulls smoothly - it's like I suddenly have a very nice running 30 hp car - struggles to hit 60 in 4th at WOT, but it's not running rough.
The PO put a timing belt on it for me right before I picked it up, and told me to adjust the belt tension in 600 mi. I didn't get around to it until now, which is 800 mi - is it possible that a new belt could stretch and jump time in that short of an interval ?
I appreciate any input - kinda worried how I'm getting to work tomorrow. Thanks
