My 94 940 has 140k miles and it feels to me like the front is in need of some new shocks. I've been looking around on the 900 series FAQ here and on the IPD website, and I have a question: can I get away with just putting a new "insert" into the front strut, or is it recommended that I replace the entire strut? The later seems like a much bigger job, but I also couldn't find info on just replacing the insert, which is what IPD sells (they don't seem to sell the entire strut assembly). How much work is involved in just dropping in a new insert, and what tools will I need? Is it as simple as the rear shocks (which I did on my old car)? And finally, any recommendations on the brand--IPD sells Koni, Bilstein Touring, and Boge Automatic all roughly at the price point I'd like to go for.
thanks!
