Shocks for the 444 444-544

Now driving the 444 "project". My plan to use the best of the shocks I found between the project car and parts car is not going to work. Way too much bouncing.

As I remember, in 2005 when I did the suspension there were quite a few shocks choices available (Koni, KYB, Bilstein, Monroe, Boge). Now the choices appear to be fewer. Based on comments in the archives here and internet research I'm leaning toward KYB GR2s for the rear (several sources at $20 each) and Monroe for the front (VP Autoparts at $60 each). The alternative seems to be Bilstein from Skandix at 3X-4X the $.

Would appreciate comments from any of you with experience on this. Are the Bilsteins really worth the extra dollars? Are there better choices I'm missing?
