Hi Keith--have never tried the Monroes but I can speak to the difference between new-stock Volvo front shocks and Bilsteins: worth the $ to me.

I ran KYBs on my first PV and never had an issue with them; I have Bilsteins in the rear now. I have experienced some weird axle-tramp episodes since installing these, but have to assume it's mostly due to the ipd rear sway, added at the same time.

Doing it again now I'd save a few bucks on the rear and go KYBs, no sway bar.
