This is on my temporary 1984 244DL with a B23F and M46...
I picked up this car to use until I can replace the engine in my 740TI.
I flushed the gearbox fluid with fresh ATF type F, and the next morning the overdrive worked.
I only drove around town the next couple days, then left on my trip, and now the overdrive will almost engage.
The fluid that came out looked like metallic flake paint or nail polish. I bet that's where the synchros went.
Think another fluid swap will fix it? What's this about the filter screen I'm supposed to clean? I think that might be related.
I know I may have to do a rebuild to get it to work, but I would really rather not without making sure I've covered the basics.
