What's all this stuff in the Shift Linkage Bushing Kit? 200 1988

Hello All,

I ordered a Shift Linkage Bushing Kit from FCP Groton because my shifter was getting loose and making clanking noises. I know where the small bushings go, but what are the big bushings for, and what's that black thing that looks like a gear?

Of course, they left out one of the most important things - the snap ring!
