Art, Is there a way to use a jumper wire on the plug that plugs into bottom of window switches
so I can BY-PASS THE SWITCH just to determine, isolate the switch from fuses, relay, defective wiring, etc, As a get by should one be out in the inclement
weather with window stuck open and 58 below zero and you just want to get home where it's warm and you have a full array of tools? thanks, Bill Or in my case a heavy rainfall.
I purchased a full complete set of new switches for my wife's wagon, after installing I find the two rear windows operate normally only from drivers door. That is all this accomplished. Since my A/C doesn't work. and I reside in Hawaii I would be really a happy man to get the two front windows operating normally .
I removed drivers door panel today, all appears in order. I noted there is a red & black wire going to motor, I'd read the article in Brickboard archives regarding windows. I'm electrically challenged. I noted on fuse panel cover on my model #10 energizes power windows. fuse good power to both legs.
My stone age electrical test equipment consists of a 12V. test lite and several various lengths jumper wires with clips on each end
So I skinned back a bit of the insulation on the red & black wires to motor. I understand one way +or- window goes down reverse window goes up. I put a hot wire to red then black in my attempt to determine any life at motor NOTHING I thought ok perhaps the motor isn't as well grounded as I originally thought so I tried power to red ground to black NOTHING of course I reversed this and still nothing. My conclusion at this time is a dead motor, unless you tell me different I'm going to remove motor and confirm it is free and wires have a sound connection and try it on work bench with 12 V.
given that I'm semi literate electrically, your thoughts besides finding a auto electric shop here in the jungle?
Thanks in advance for your input with this matter, Please explain your thoughts as though you were talking to your 6 year old grandson.
