[RICKBOARD] diagnose electric window problems

Art, I removed the gear box from motor this AM 2 screws with the torz heads,
motor came off OK, has a long shaft with a screw gear that goes into the gear
box, this shaft has a pinion gear that drives the gear in the gear box, motor
free, gear box is frozen solid, & it is sealed with multiple rivets, I could
drill the rivets out to see what is happening in gear box, It is evident it is
not intended to be worked on. Even with motor removed, the gear box gear will
not budge, It is seriously frozen, a Bosch Germany manufactured assembly. I see
why you must buy as a one piece assembly, motor is dry and still lubricated from
new no evidence of any water leakage and even if they had been it is so well
made and sealed I don't see water getting into either part possible. I see no
apparent reason from outside for failure.

Do you know if the 700 series window assemblies are the same? I'm on the look
out for a salvage vehicle to buy, drag home and pick parts as They are needed, a
fellow with a '89 740 turbo claims it was running a while back but dead now if I
can buy it right and use some parts, it's coming home I suppose the turbo motor
and trans must have some value?
Later, Bill
