Hello
I have a 1993 945T. 147K miles. Nothing really wrong with it. Speedo doesn't work and I should replace the rear springs (sag a bit). (I just ordered new springs)
I'm considering getting a 2006 or 2007 xc70. Mostly because I think that it will be safer than the 940 and because the 945 is almost 20 years old, and maybe because I'm nearing mid-life crisis age. I still like the 940 a lot and I can work on it (do almost everything myself). The maintenance is up to date for keeping it running for another 100k. (just did timing and other belts, stabilizer bar links). In the last 5 years did: shocks, tie rod ends, tie rods, ball joints, ipd sway bars, all hoses, radiator. The 945 also has a 3rd row seat and in-dash DVD player with flip down screen from the headliner, and a really nice stereo. Also a separate set of almost-new snow wheels & tires. I drive about 10K miles per year, and it the family vehicle for road trips. I would want a DVD player and 3rd row seat in the xc70.
What are your thoughts? How hard is the xc70 to work on? Feel free to convince me to keep the 940! (I'm not ready to sell the 940, and the money I could get for it isn't the deciding factor.)
