Brake Question, Non-Volvo

Bunch of smart guys/gals here. 96 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4:

If the truck sits overnight. On first start in the morning, put it in drive to get out of driveway. Apply the brakes, they lock up hard. If I start it and pump the brakes a couple times they won't lock up. Once I have applied the brakes one time, they never lock up the rest of the day. Any guesses?
