I have a volvo 240 wagon that started up and when placed in reverse it died. This has happened before but it usually just starts up again and runs fine after giving a little gas.
I have:
Disconnected the AMM - still wont start
Checked the 25 fuse - looks good
replaced all fuses in drivers fuse box that deal with fuel
replaced fuel relay- used part but i can hear it functioning (could 1/2 of the relay not work?
I can hear the fuel pump working- (replaced last winter)
pulled a spark plug - DRY; two were loose
spark at ignition coil
ran engine diagnostics according to
https://www.brickboard.com/FAQ/700-900/EngineOBDCodes.htm
(although I think I accidentally cleared stored codes when I cleaned the battery connections)-
port 6: got the 3-3-4 all clear for TPS; 1-4-1 all clear RPM
port 2: got the 3-3-2 (@ full throttle, half throttle);
NO 3-3-3 OR 3-3-1 SHOWED UP, IS THAT A FLAG? does that mean that the RPM sensor signal from ignition is not happening? How do I check that further?
currently I am waiting for a jump because I killed the car running tests and attempting to start. Also do i need to worry about flooding anything with fuel if the plugs are dry?
