re: 87 245 auto - Exterior mounted cabin air filter assembly 200 1987

Hi All,

After looking at the old air filter, I want to install a cabin air filter. I want to design a cabin air filter unit, a open tray with a cover and mount on top of the vent slots. No matter what I do, it's going to look hideous but my lung will be cleaner.

Also, it's going to be water proof so there will no more water flowing to the "Swedish Aqueduct" rocker panels. One of the previous owner jacked up the car by the passenger front rocker panel and crushed the water passage way. There is no sign of rust but I can't really tell. I don't any water to go in there.

Do you have any recommendation regarding a low profile, water resistance, wide available and cheap air filter?

Thank you as always.

Put 30,000 miles on it.

There is no sign of any particle intrusion on the other side. However, I noticed that the car has more power when it's cruising at 75 mph.

The open tray design for the cabin air filter assembly. It's missing a cover.

Section thru the open tray
