Problem has been around in various degrees for over 4 years, slowly getting worse. Car would run fine, then suddenly, no power, as if fuel has suddenly shut off, then will come back fine. The, "no power" periods become longer and more often, finally making going anywhere in the car pretty risky (ie wife stopped driving it to work!)
It has now reached the stage where it starts fine if cold, will run fine for about 3-5 minutes, the temp gauge has just about hit normal, then it will barely run. Very rough idle. Pressing the gas elicits pops and stumbles, willnot rev to limit.
So, I unplugged the AMM. It ran better, about as one would expect in "limp" mode. Engine idles better, would run to full revs.
So, dug in the parts boxes and found 2 used AMMs. Ah!
Plugged in the "newer" AMM, started it, and...no change!
Unplugged it, car ran better again in "limp" mode.
I have not tried the other used AMM, but I am skeptical...what would cause a good AMM to run worse than no AMM?
Any ideas on where to go from here? Might try changing the ECU, but see no reason to. Because it used to come and go so quick, I was leaning to a intermmitent electrical connection, but where?
