So, still reluctant to pull out the old O2 sensor, I disconnected the 12v heater power, to prevent it from shorting to the sensor. This seemed to alleviate the awful running, the sensor is not heating up, so the ECU is mostly running on the nominal 0.54 voltage.
The most obvious problem is now a rapidly varying idle, fast and slow every 2 seconds. I took it out on a run on the interstate, and the idle was better.
Wondering if this could be caused by a dirty throttle body?
I cannot find any air leaks.
So today I gave it a good wash, hope it makes it and me feel better.
