installing water pump--heater connector resisting 200 1982

I thought I had it beat when I had all of the bolts and nuts in place and tightened down on the water pump.

Then I tried to connect the heater pipe.

It is held by a ten mm bolt and nut combination with the nut being on the back hidden part of the connector.

That took a while. Lost the nut once. But then I came to tighten up the nut. There is no room for a wrench to hold the nut in place while I turn the bolt from the front. Very nice that the bolt is mounted too close to the pump housing to allow for a socket to grip it.

But the main problem is that I cannot get a wrench onto the back, hidden nut.

I tried to move the heater pipes away from the block by removing the large bolt that holds them to the block but that only gave me about an eighth of an inch more clearance. Looking at finding the other holding bolts now.

Is there a real mechanic in the house?
