Some DUI just killed my Volvo! 200 88

The car was parked in the street with my sister's 6 month old V70 Wagon in front of it. A mother %#$@*& driving a Camry plowed into the back of my 240 and pushed it 10 feet into the V70 which got pushed another 20 feet. He must have been going 45 and there were no skid marks in front.

No one was hurt. He was the only driver in any of the cars. The Driver Under the Influence was so lit he walked away from it but couldn't dial the phone or even really know who he was. The cops took him away.

The tow truck showed up and had to separate the Camry from the 240. Get this the driveshaft separate at the U joint, the center console and dash detached, oil was leaking and the trunk is shut for good. I will get some photos posted soon.

The V70 looks okay but I can't imagine it is okay. The rear bumper folded down and the hatch won't open.

The 240 with 178,000 is dead and I am crushed.

So what can I expect to happen with the Insurance company (Progressive). Will I have to fight for a fair settlement? Should I be prepared for lots of hassle? Will they cut me a check for $10K and call it done? Oh this sucks.

I guess all the new stuff I just bought from the IPD garage sale will have to go back (shocks, sway bars, tune-up kit, etc.)

Any input to help deal with this would be helpful.

Kirk
