Shiftlock from Hell 900 1993

My '93 965 continues to drive me absolutley NUTS! I was in Chicago for a conference and now I'm back and the brick wont start at all...again. It sat in the garage for about 4-5 days.

Here are the problems/observations:

1) The only way to get it out of park is via Shiftlock overide

2) I no longer hear the click sound when depressing the brake pedal

3) When gently turning the key I am getting a static-like sound by one the

relays marked "Volvo 1362867-12V." It is a rectangular 1"x2" cube and is connected to to a square purple connector. It almost sounds as if it is shorting. What is that?

4) The Reverse lights do not function when moving the shifter to reverse with headlights on or off

I tried bypassing the microswitch-no luck there. Any last pieces of advice before I blow my paycheck on Volvo serve or trade it in? I love the car but these electrical issues are not acceptable. :(
