My overdrive started slipping a couple months ago. I read everything I could on the brickboard (don't know what I'd do w/out you guys), and I came to conclusion that my "pre-85" overdrive had weak pistons. I'm trying to get the thing off the back of the trans right now and it won't come off. Everythings undone and I killed the car in reverse so that the splines in OD would unbind from the output shaft. Am I supposed to put it back in nuetral now to allow it to slide off the shaft? Or should I leave it in reverse? I might mention that once I got the car up on blocks, I couldn't quite get to the top bolt to remove the driveline--so I hit the starter a couple times to turn it in reverse. Did this do something to bind up the output shaft again?
