Red engine block. (can anyone shed some light) 200 1986

My 86 240GL has the Red engine block (painted red of course). I at first thought that it looked odd (maybe a rebuild or short block replacement). Then after reading some of the post on the brickboard I read that other people were commenting about having the red block. Does this mean anything other than what color paint was used?
