Hi all,
i just took my girlfriend's 89 740 gl for a ride today, because she has been complaining of problems, it has major problems. I started it up cold, and it did indeed start but idled at about 500 -600 rpm's dropping and almost stalling out. In park I gave it a little gas and it seemed to rev up fine. But when I put it in drive and attempted to drive around i realized what she has been complaining about. If I pressed the accelerator any more than just a light touch it had nothing (absolutely zero acceleration, in fact it still ran but coasted to slower speeds), it was possible to just keep barely enough pressure to get up to 35 mph or so. about a month ago she had similar problems and I removed and cleaned the TB, IAC and checked grounds. (BTW the car had a full tune up a month before that by previous owner). I also replaced the FPR and checked both fuel pumps they are all good. I think from reading the FAQ that it could be the AMM, but how do I confirm. PLEASE HELP!!! I feel responsible b/c I picked out the car when she was gone and now it is a money pit of problems. thanks in advance.
