How do I open the trunk from the inside? 200 1985

In the eight months I've had this beast, I've yet to open the trunk. A few months ago I got a trunk key cut from the VIN.. which didn't do squat for the glove box or trunk lock (the trunk lock felt frozen). Remote release didn't work either. Some genius decided to take a screwdriver to the trunk lock last night. Grr.

Now I feel compelled to just replace the darn thing (course a trunk lock in okay condition at a junk yard is a rare sight!). It looks like if I could remove the cylinder somehow I could unlock the trunk quite easily. Anyone ever done this before?
