problem starting engine 700 1987

i can't start the engine,when i turn the ign. key to start all i hear is a single click and nothing else the starter doesn't turn. i tried another starter and solenoid but get the same reaction. i checked the battery ,and wire connections several times and all seem to be good . is there another relay or start switch that is not connected or bad. thanks in advance any help is welcome.
