My daughter's 87 240 has no odo or trip mileage, speedo OK. Just removed the instrument cluster, then the speedo assembly then the small motor which drives the 2 odo's. There is a very small brown idler gear about 3/8" across that drives the odo gears. It was stuck on it's shaft and the teeth were sheared off.

Anyone know a source for this other than pick and pull? Seem to remember some time ago that someone said he was able to make a gear for the odo by injection molding them and he was thinking of selling them.

I have preached to my daughter the importance of proper maintenance, now she says I have to fix this so she will know when to change oil etc. What a dilema!
