Hello all,

Am very happy w/performance of my new to me GM electric fan, feel as if I'm keeping up w/ technology as well as improving my cooling system on the cheap--boneyard fan was 1/4 price of a new fan clutch. Now that winter's here, rarely need the fan at all. Love that Scandinavian cabin heater, great for hot engine and cold feet.

Recent poster had a legitimate concern about putting in an electric fan--the things do produce sparks when operating. Old cars can have a tendency to leak gas from various locations, there's also vapor recovery canister up in front fender where gasoline vapor could be present (should that thing be changed after 20 yrs?)....Sparks when attempting to remove bung nut back by fuel tank on a rustbucket years ago made me dump the car.

Not sure if my little fire extinguisher would be enough in this worst case scenario. But this is/was a "safety" car, maybe I should put mechanical fan back on ?
