The real problem is Volvo bought out 3 dealers in my town. Said we had too many for the market. Well to the losers at Volvo this is my last Volvo ever. All Volvo does is defend the dealer by my house. The only dealer in Pittsburgh. There are two other dealers in the area. One a hour north, and one, a hour and 20 minutes east. Well let me tell you about these losers. Stopped in three weeks ago for a oil change and told them to check the brakes because they felt funny like the the pads were low. Ended up needing front and rear pads as well as new front rotors. The front rotors did have close to 90K on them so they were due. Well they told me they needed to adjust the FRONT WHEEL BEARING due to it being loose.
Well I took the car in last week to the good dealer over a hour away for my state inspection. The car need a tie end. Well well, those idiots at the dealer by my house can't even see that the rod was moving 1/2 inch with hand strength. This tie end wasn't just starting to go it was gone. While I was in last week for the inspection they noticed a sizable oil leak up front. Yesterday I took it in to the good dealer to get the leak fixed and decided to go after the oil filter extension and oil lines to the turbo for leaks while I was there. FYI Last Jan I replaced the turbo (bad dealer did the work). Well after they replaced the pan and the oil filter extension oil seals they asked if I wanted to replace the paper gasket and o ring gaskets on the oil return tube while they were in there already. I said sure. ($10 plus the gaskets) For those that have never done it there are two small bolts that hold the tube to the turbo. Well the tech pops the socket on the first bolt and you hear the crack as the bolt breaks loose and he removes it with no problem. The socket gets placed on the second bolt and he bounced his hand off the side of the engine. Tech says oh Sh-- the bolt just broke. No, it didn't break it had been stripped. It had been held on by a thread. A loose thread in fact. This was where I was losing a quart of oil every 600 miles. It seems the bolts they used were too short for the application. It seems that you have to remove a waste gate actuator bolt first to get the socket in for the correct bolts for the return tube. One of those it is ok while removing but needs to be removed to line up the threads for installation. If you use shorter bolts and angle them in from the side you can save 30 seconds of work. It was obvious that the tech at the bad dealer knew what he had done. The good dealer had to retap the turbo for a larger bolt. I've had it with these losers. I was thinking of picking up a 2001 S80 in the spring. Volvo can forget it. There is no way I am going to buy a car that I have to drive over a hour for competent service. Everytime I go in to the bad dealer they are trying sell me a car. Not the sales people but the Service manager. These are same idiots that tell me no one wants a RWD Volvo anymore but they had a 1993 240 with 159,000 miles for $6995.00. BTW they did sell it for the asking price. But my excellent condition 745T is only worth $1800. This is the same car that two techs, one sales man and a service writer are arguing over who gets first dibs on it. They also said that I have the nicest 700 they have seen in Pittsburgh.
