Drive shaft bushing..how much play/movement is normal 700 1991

Have checked the FAQs and could not find the answer. Wondering if this could be a source of my elusive clunk. No typical whining or screeching from the bushing telling me it is about to go. Actually it is very quiet considering the car is 12 years old. Just seems to me to have excessive lateral play. I can move the drive shaft about one half inch off center with out a lot of effort. Don't know if this is normal or not.
