K & M Filter Questions 140-160 1969

Hi All,
I'm pairing K&M "pancake type" filters with HIF6 carbs on my "69 164 and I'm not sure what width filter I should get. They come in 1.75"(44mm), 2.5"(64mm), or 3.25"(83mm). My guess is the 2.5". Also, do I need the optional "billet stub stack" thingy that goes in the filter supposedly to improve air flow and gas mileage? George??
